Eros table in Carrara marble by A. Mangiarotti for Skipper, 1970s

The Italian architect, designer, teacher and urban planner Angelo Mangiarotti has been a leading figure in the international design community since the 1960s. While adhering to rationalist principles of purity of line and simplicity of construction, he sought to imbue his designs of coffee tables, dining chairs, sconces, and other furnishing accessories with a sense of character and lightness that was often missing in the modernist architecture and design of the late 20th century.
