1970s Dining Table, White Marble, Lucite Base, Claudio Salocchi for Sormani Italy

This dining table belongs to the Ellisse collection by Claudio Salocchi, who developed most of his cutting edge designs for the Sormani Company in Arosio, Italy. Ellisse, together with Lia chairs, was mainly a series of experimental luxury containers in extruded aluminum. The tables more frequently had wooden tops. Those with marble tops are quite rare. The base of the table is aluminum smelting and the support is a Lucite cylinder (with a few very minor scratches). The top is in polyester-finished white marble. The marble shows some wear and tear: a couple of repairs, some minor cracks, not affecting the surface and a slight yellowing due to polyester aging. Though, if sanded and polished again, it will look new. The oval, beveled table sits six: the size is cm 180 x 130 height 73 cm. Size in inches: 70" 7/8 x 51" 3/16 ; height 28" 3/4 Marble thickness: 2 cm (51/64) This piece matches perfectly with all the floor lamps of the Sormani collection and with the Lia chairs. It is ideal for luxurious dining corners in city flats. The table comes with a certification of origin on the manufacturer's original 1970s letterhead.
