Danish oak 156 desk by Hans J. Wegner for Getama, 1970s

A simple but functional oak desk, model 156 designed by Hans J. Wegner for Getama in Denmark in the 1970s as a project for a Danish school and later became a commonly used piece of furniture. A simple and striking design with floating drawers and a subtly raised top with two drawers at the front and storage space at the back. Originally there was a lock that must have been removed by the previous owner; in addition, there appear to be document dividers in one of the drawers. This beautifully crafted piece of mid-century Danish furniture is made of oak veneer with solid wood details. The desk is in fantastic original condition, with a clean lacquer finish and preserved with processional compounds. Traces of use are minimal and the wood is bright and clean.
