Teak chest of drawers by Kai Kristiansen, 1960s

Sold

Teak chest of drawers by Kai Kristiansen made in Denmark in the 1960s. It is a rare model with seven drawers, also known as "semainier", widespread in 18th century France; the name derives from the French word for the week, "semaine", because this piece of furniture had the purpose of separating the personal laundry of the time from Monday to Sunday. This chest of drawers has a curved front with round solid teak handles, a teak base and a beautiful, perfectly matched teak veneer; the upper drawer can be locked with the original key preserved. The chest of drawers has been checked: all drawers are clean and work smoothly; the wood has been meticulously cleaned and the surface refreshed with several coats of Danish oil. It has slight traces of use. Original key included.
