Travertine coffee table with glass top by Claude Berraldacci, 1990s

Coffee table by Claude Berraldacci, 1990s. Sculptural travertine base and glass top with rounded edges. This coffee table comes directly from Berraldacci, whose brand name was "La Pierre Haute Couture". The stone used is the purest travertine: it comes from the Tivoli quarry near Rome, from which the materials for the Vatican buildings, the Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain were extracted. Travertine from this region is pure and very light in color. The stone is worked with great skill that transforms it into "softened travertine," that is, characterized by a natural, opaque appearance, almost soft to the touch. This processing brings out the mineral texture and unique color.
