Travertine coffee table by Claude Berraldacci, 1990s

Travertine coffee table by Claude Berraldacci, 1990s. Rectangular top with rounded edges and sculptural foot; the whole is made from a single block. This coffee table comes directly from designer Berraldacci, whose brand name was "La Pierre Haute Couture". The stone used is the purest travertine: it comes from the Tivoli quarry near Rome, from which the materials for the Vatican buildings, the Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain were extracted. Travertine from this region is pure and very light in color. The stone is worked with great skill that transforms it into a kind of "softened travertine," characterized by a natural, matte appearance that is almost soft to the touch. This processing brings out the mineral texture and unique color.
