Pressed glass face vase No. 3483 by Adolf Matura for Sklo Union (formerly Czechoslovakia), 1972. Adolf Matura (1921 - 1979) is of great importance in the history of Czechoslovakian pressed glass. Matura was primarily a glass artist. Early in his career he concentrated on etched glass in Železny Brod; later on complementary table and glass designs. In the mid-1960s he began to focus on printed glass. Matura loved figurative work. Among his designs is one of the best vases, the two-sided vase, highly prized by collectors of pressed glass. Excellent condition, no defects.
