Tuia burl wood sculpture depicting a woman with hijab, 1960s

A sculpture of Islamic art skilfully made of Tuia burl wood, depicting a woman with hijab. The female figure is carved with elegant, flowing lines, expressing grace. The Tuia wood, with its grain, adds a natural dimension between the folds of the hijab that delicately envelops the entire figure. Probably worked by a French artist (having much contact with Arab countries). The briar is a kind of root and appears as a collection of twisted and twisted wood fibres, which give the wood its characteristic hardness and compactness. The briar also has an aesthetic value, as it is very elegant and refined due to its many different natural grains.
