Mannerist ebony and marble commesso frame, first half of the 17th century










Small Mannerist frame in ebony and marble commesso, 16th century - first half of the 17th century. Molded perimeter fitted with projecting sections at corners; four Macchia Viola slab marble riserve; octagonal molded frame set in center originally ornamented with four small turned elements at sides, two present with missing while two completely absent; oval light. Restoration work from the late 19th century; oak bottom added and some ebony frames replaced.
