Large pair of baluster vases made of porcelain painted in cobalt blue underglaze, brick and gold overglaze in second firing. The naturalistic and floral decorations are within mixtilinear reserves and cover the entire surface of the vases including the inside of the large flared and scalloped mouths. The type and decorations are characteristic of the Imari manufactory and more specifically of the master ZOSHUNTEI SASNPO ZO whose signature appears on the bases. Japan, Meiji period (1868 - 1912).
