Direttorio desk veneered in rosewood, early 19th century Desk entirely veneered in rosewood and bois de rose. The front is composed of double drawers placed in columns at the sides and a larger one in the centre. The arrangement of the wood grain arranged in a herringbone pattern with opposing sides creates a pleasing decorative motif. The legs are in the shape of an inverted truncated pyramid and the top is upholstered in period leather. The centre piece of furniture has the same workmanship on the side opposite the drawers as on the front. Brass spouts. Piedmont, Directory period (early 19th century).
