Pair of 844-DS3 chairs by C. R. Mackintosh for Alivar, 1980s

2 Chairs 844- DS3 in black ash and straw design by Charles R. Mackintosh (1918) for Alivar, mid-1980s. Excellent state of conservation. 40 carried in an excellent manner. Only a few very small spots of normal wear on limited spots. Located mainly on limited front angular points between the straw and the wooden structure. Which do not affect its beauty. For the rest they are OK. Very well preserved. This chair is part of a series of furniture designed for the country house of the Scottish industrialist W.T. Basset-Lowke. Ironically, as sometimes happens even to the greats of design. The customer, not satisfied, refused the chairs, the table and the sideboard. Chair with open pore black lacquered ash structure with square mother-of-pearl inlays positioned on the horizontal band of the backrest. The seat is made of hand-woven natural straw. Measurements: L 49 H 75.5 D 45 cm – Art. 844 New price of the pair 1850 euros; request 1150 euros.
