Four-bay modular teak bookcase by Poul Cadovius for Cado (Denmark), 1960s. Designed to be aesthetically pleasing and highly functional, this piece is crafted from warm-toned teak wood, displaying a beautiful wood grain pattern on both the outside and inside. The use of high quality teak wood and teak veneer ensures the durability and longevity of the piece. The attention to detail, particularly evident in the well-integrated handles and beautifully woven front of one of the cabinets, showcases the artistry of the Danish craftsmen. The bookcase includes two spacious cabinets with two compartments with sliding doors and four internal shelves, two cabinets with flap doors with internal compartments, a console with two drawers and eleven shelves of various depths. In a cabinet the shelves are practically folded and have an extraction mechanism. The height of all internal shelves is adjustable. The larger cabinet with a folding door, an internal shelf and two drawers for accessories can be used as a hidden desk to create a discreet work/study space at home. This combination of open shelves and closed cabinets offers a versatile mix of display and storage options, making it ideal for living rooms or offices where both aesthetics and organization are crucial. The cabinet with sliding doors is 51.5 cm high, 80 cm wide and 40 cm deep. The largest cabinet with flap door/hidden desk is 51.5 cm high, 80 cm wide and 40 cm deep; depth when fully open: 85cm; drawer height: 5 cm. The smallest cabinet with flap door is 33.5 cm high, 80 cm wide and 30 cm deep; depth when fully open: 57 cm. The console is 15 cm high, 80 cm wide and 30 cm deep; drawer height: 10 cm; height of additional internal drawers: 4 cm. Seven shelves are 80 cm wide and 20 cm deep, three are 80 cm wide and 24 cm deep, one is 80 cm wide and 40 cm deep. The five teak uprights are 224 cm long. It is a fully modular shelving system and the components can be arranged according to your needs; the configuration presented is just an example. Our team checked the piece and made sure that the components fit together and that the opening mechanisms work correctly and smoothly. The wood has been cleaned and protected with layers of Danish oil, enhancing its beauty. Despite the passage of time the bookcase remains in excellent original condition.
