Gorgeous Italian micromosaic of the 19th century. Also called the minute mosaic or miniature mosaic or spinning mosaic, it is a technique presented for the first time in Rome in 1775 in the mosaicist shop Giacomo Raffaelli. This technique reached its peak in the middle of the 19th century thanks to the production of minute enameled glass tiles and had a huge success as souvenirs among foreigners visiting Italy for the Grand Tour.
