Pink granite sculpture by Aldo Flecchia, 1973

On hold

Sculpture by the italian artist Aldo Flecchia made from a block of solid pink granite. It is a very plastic abstract composition of smooth and angular shapes, extremely material with plays of light on the surface that help to create very defined images. Some say it is the representation of the embrace between a mother and her child, others think that it represents two lovers united in an embrace. The sculpture has a particular mark left by the artist who carved a handprint near the base. Flecchia's signature is engraved in a circle and contains a number that is most likely a 73, referring to the year the work was created when the artist was 28 years old.
