Rostrato Murano glass bowl by Seguso, 1950s

Small bowl in transparent rostrato Murano glass by Seguso, 1950s. The rostrato glass is a particular design from the 1930s created by Ercole Barovier, then owner and designer of the homonymous brand Barovier & Toso, based on the island of Murano. The brand is still active and still produces and sells, among others, rostrato glass objects, proving that the design is truly timeless. Made from clear "crystal" glass and featuring spikes (rostri) that protrude from the surface, the pieces are clearly handcrafted. Their beauty lies in the small differences between each spike, which give them an irregular, somewhat "wabi-sabi" touch. This bowl, probably produced around the 1950s-early 1960s, is preserved in fair condition: some spikes are slightly chipped but the damage is practically impossible to notice with the naked eye; the only way to locate the chipped spiked is to touch them all one by one.
