József Peresztegi, a well-known Hungarian Bauhaus furniture designer between World Wars I and II. became one of the leading figures of the post-World War II period. He was one of the founding members of the Wood Industry Manufacturing Design and Editing Office, established in 1951, which was the main venue for furniture design in the 1950s.
